மல்லாண்ட திண்தோள் மணிவண்ணா! உன்
I have been to the Nava Tirupati temples decades ago. I remember going by a rickety Ambassador taxi with my amma, appa, maternal aunt and uncle. I remember the lush green landscape and usually empty temples, some with beautiful Nayak-styled pillars with numerous Yalis.
We had the blessings of the cosmos to travel and have Dharshan at the Pandya Nadu Divyadesams and a few other important temples en route. Most temples were filled with devotees arriving from far away and I was happy to see the Vairagya in each one of them when they waited to see the various Swamis with Bhakthi.
Unlike Kumbakonam which is peppered with important temples in close quarters, this route is far and wide. We traveled with a group called Tirtha Yatra, based in Bangalore whose motto is "PILGRIMAGE IS RECONNECTION WITH
GOD". We arrived in Madurai and traveled by bus for 5 days before returning to Madurai. They have an air-conditioned bus and provide home-cooked food with their cook traveling along. Food is prepared without onion or garlic. Everyday started with a prayer to Narasimha Swamy followed by a recital of Vishnu Sahasranamam.
Our journey took us to the following temples which are mentioned sequentially:
1. Thirumogoor DD
2. Thirumaliruncholai(Azhagar koil) DD
3. Pazhamudircholai
4. Yoga Narasimhar Yanaimalai
5. Thirumeyyam DD
6. Thirukoshtiyur DD
7. Meenakahi amman, Madurai
8. Thiru Koodal Koodal azhagar DD
9. Thirupullani DD
10. Tiruvaikuntam DD
11. Thirukurugur DD
12. Thirukolur DD
13. Thenthiruperai DD
14. Thirukuzhandai DD
15. ThiruTholavillimangalam DD
16. Thirupuliangudi DD
17. ThiruVaragunamangai DD
18. Thiruccheerivaramangai DD
19. Thirukurungudi DD
20. Thiruchendur Murugan temple
21. Thiruthangal DD
22. Srivilliputhur DD
23. Thiruparankundram
A total of 18 Divya Desams (marked as DD) and 5 other temples.
Like all our trips I plan to write about them and hopefully, I should be able to recall details. There are too many of my friends who have traveled to these places more than once and may wish to add details, correct errors, etc please feel welcome.
Sriram(Hari)
